It went 7-5 against the spread last week, putting it five games above .500 this season. The Good: Picking Colorado to beat Nebraska. The Bad: NC State’s decision to keep it close to Notre Dame. The Ugly: Choosing Alabama to travel through Texas.

Nr. 7 Penn State (-14,5) in Illinois, Nr., Fox

The Illini were beaten at Kansas last week, giving up 262 yards on the ground, and now face a much more talented team with a better running back. Penn State should be ready to make a statement in its first Big Ten test.

No. 14 LSU (-9.5) at Mississippi State, Noon, ESPN

The Tigers performed all over the state last year and should be ready to show that their Week 1 performance against Florida State wasn’t what they really were.

South Carolina over No. 1 Georgia (-27.5), 3:30 p.m., CBS

Shane Beamer’s offensive line looked extremely shaky – the Gamecocks have allowed an SEC-worst 23 TFLs – and this is not the team to face if you’re having trouble in the trenches. Over the last two seasons, Kirby Smart’s teams have outscored South Carolina 88-20.

Georgia 43, South Carolina 10
Spitzhacke: Georgia -27.5

Last year, the Beavers had the best defense in the Pac-12 and are No. 1 again. The Aztecs’ offense now ranks 11th in the Mountain West in yards per game.

Oregon State 38, San Diego State 9
Spitzhacke: Oregon State -24,5

Minnesota at No. 20, North Carolina (-7.5), 3:30 p.m., ESPN

The Tar Heels have shown a strong ground game in support of Drake Maye and should have plenty of firepower for a Gophers team that has good defense but average offense.

North Carolina 24, Minnesota 13
Snapshots: North Carolina -7,5

Northwestern at No. 21 Duke (-18.5), 3:30 p.m., ACCN

The Wildcats had a good performance against UTEP last week, but Riley Leonard and Co. pose a much bigger problem.

28 Duke, NW 7
Spitzhacke: Herzog -18,5

It’s been a long week off the field for the Spartans, and now they’ll face a productive offense that’s too much for a defense that struggled with the pass last year (26-2 TD-to- INT ratio).

Washington 44, Michigan State 20
Spitzhacke: Washington -16,5

No. 11 Tennessee (-6.5) at Florida, 7 p.m., ESPN

The Vols stumbled last week against Austin Peay, but they still didn’t look as lost as Florida did in Week 1 at Utah. Tennessee has more athletes and still plays with more confidence than the Gators and should do well here. Florida’s defense has never had to face an offense like Joe Milton and the Vols.

Tennessee 31, Florida 20
Spitzhacke: Tennessee -6,5

Wyoming at No. 4 Texas (-29.5), 8 p.m., Longhorn Network

The Cowboys took a 2-0 lead against a talented Texas Tech team. Texas won’t take Wyoming lightly after their big win in Tuscaloosa, but there’s a feeling it’s going to be hard for a team as young as they are not to feel a bit of a hangover after this win.

Texas 38, Wyoming 13
Spitzhacke: Wyoming +29,5

Colorado State at No. 18 Colorado (-23.5), 10 p.m., on ESPN

Two weeks ago, Washington State lit up the Rams, and Colorado has more speed at the skill positions. Expect another big day for Shedor Sanders.

Colorado 48, Colorado State 17
Spitzhacke: Colorado -23,5

Feldman Special: Nr. 15 Kansas State (-5,5) in Missouri, Mittag, SEC Network

Chris Klieman’s team had a few problems against a good Troy team last week, but the guess is that the Tigers can pull off the upset and avenge last season’s road loss.
