For its creation, Coco Chanel was inspired by her beloved man – Hugh Richard Arthur Grosvenor, Duke of Westminster. Chanel often borrowed the duke’s tweed blazers and jackets, combining them with blouses and her beloved hats.

After the death of Coco Chanel, the brand focused on the production of accessories and perfume, which was the main source of profit. The brand stopped being so stylish and popular, and its decline began.

But his main success was updating the brand. After the death of Coco Chanel, tweed suits were considered clothes for grandmothers and no young, fashionable woman wanted to wear them. It was Karl Lagerfeld who brought tweed back into fashion. And above all, he showed that tweed can be worn with any, even extravagant bottoms.

The result was powerful: on Chanel not only grandmothers, who had shopped there for 50 years, and not only mothers, who were used to buying conspicuous costume jewelry and business suits, began to go there, but also their daughters. From a historic, expensive but bourgeois and rather boring brand Chanel suddenly became every woman’s dream and simple super hot.
