Trainer Quique Setién is very disappointed by the game of FC Barcelona in the cup duel with the small UD Ibiza. The Catalans narrowly won 1-2 on the Spanish island on Wednesday.
“We made a lot of mistakes and played into the hands of the opponent. We knew that it would not be easy, but we just lost the ball too often. After rest it went better,” said Setién, who succeeds the dismissed Ernesto. Valverde has just started his job at Barcelona.
“The opponent continued to believe in it until the last minute. We can’t let something like that happen again. We were inspirationless, didn’t know how to get through and were not accurate enough.”
Third divisionist Ibiza even took the lead in the ninth minute in Estadi Municipal de Can Misses, where there is room for around 4,500 spectators. Only in the 68th minute Antoine Griezmann equalized on the instructions of Frenkie de Jong and in the extra time Griezmann also signed for 1-2.

“Ibiza has done great”
The 61-year-old Setién, who is known to be a supporter of Johan Cruijff’s philosophy, did not forget to compliment Ibiza despite his criticism.
“Although I am not happy with our game, we must not lose sight of the circumstances either. We played on artificial turf against a highly motivated team. Ibiza did a great job.”
On Saturday Setién is waiting for his second competition match as the Barcelona coach. After a 1-0 victory over Granada, the reigning national champion will visit Valencia.
Jasper Cillessen may be missing at the club from the orange city; the goalkeeper of Orange dropped out on Wednesday before the cup match with UD Logroñés (0-1 win) injured during the warm-up. It is still unclear what exactly is going on.
