Clichéd ‘Butterfly’- Review | Anupama Parameswaran Butterfly Movie Review

NoAnupama Parameswaran is the female lead in the film Butterfly directed by veteran Ghanta Satish Babu, a mystery thriller whose screenplay was also written by Ghanta Satish Babu. Apart from Telugu, the film directly released through Hotstar can also be enjoyed in Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada languages.

Butterfly is the story of famous criminal lawyer Vyjayanthi and his only sister-in-law Geetha. Both were orphaned at a young age. Self-taught, Vaijayanti became a good lawyer and brought up his sister-in-law with a good education. Geetha lives with Vaijayanti and their children, who are about to separate from her husband. Even Geeta, who loves her sister like a mother, calls her mother. The story takes a turn when Vaijayanti’s sons go missing.

The film tells the story of Geeta and her lover Vishwa’s efforts to find their children and its aftermath. The story is told in a way that keeps a lot of mystery. Along with this, the film tells about women overcoming poverty and coming forward, society’s point of view towards them and violence against children.

But due to the flaw in the script, there is a huge gap between the moods of the thriller, which often hampers the audience’s viewing pleasure. Occasional comedy scenes also spoil the thriller feel of the film. Also, the film becomes a line of clichés due to the prevalence of melodrama.

Rao Ramesh has played his character very well in his limited time. Nihal Kodatti is good too. Praveen, Racha Ravi, Prabhu, Rajitha, Vennala Rama Rao, Meghana, Master Devannu and Baby Adhya are the other actors.

The cinematography of the film is handled by Sameer Reddy, the music by Arvis and Gideon Katta, the editing by Madhu and the screenplay-story-direction by Ghanda Satish Babu. Despite being full of clichés, Butterfly is a movie worth watching once.
