The Salezer avalanche gallery at the entrance to Davos GR shines in a new color: the logos of the Destination Davos Klosters tourism center decorate the walls. Sometimes in German, then in Chinese, Arabic and Russian. “We just wanted to greet these guests as they perceive us in their home country,” says CEO Reto Branschi der “Southeastern Switzerland”.

The civil engineering office in Graubünden does not like the new paint job. The lettering is now banned because “the three foreign-language destination logos lead to an increased distraction of road users”.

Logos have to be painted over for 3000 francs
The logo in Latin script, on the other hand, is recognizable, can be grasped quickly and would be less distracting. In short: the logos have to be painted over.
–
In addition, Destination Davos Klosters has not received approval for such painting, since no corresponding application was made. The company made a mistake due to vacation absences: “The error is obviously with us, I have to accept that,” admits Branschi.
–
The situation is still annoying – especially for the battered tourism industry: Branschi expects the painting to cost around CHF 3,000. (szm)
