At present, cooperation in science and technology is an international trend. In the face of complex and changing forms of international communication, digital collaboration between Chinese and Malaysian think tanks and media presents many prospects for cooperation. The two sides should actively integrate into the global innovation network and promote scientific and technological development through open cooperation.

Technology, which is the theme of our deliberations today, is another emerging area of our bilateral cooperation, and this includes cooperation on 5G … Our two countries have expanded their cooperation activities, their support and their mutual assistance to mitigate the effects of this pandemic, ”said the chairman of the China-Malaysia Friendship Association, Dato ‘Abdul Majid Ahmad Khan. He added that in response to the outbreak, Malaysia was accelerating the development of emerging technologies in the industry and advancing its national digital technology strategy. “It is said that digital transformation is like a data-driven machine making its digital fabrics with 5G… 5G will change the media and entertainment marketplace over the next decade. In his view, China’s experience in applying advanced new technologies such as short videos, live streaming sales, online games and other forms of entertainment approaches have given excellent results during the crisis. These experiences have also provided an important benchmark for Malaysia. He expected the media and think tanks in China and Malaysia to strengthen digital cooperation in the 5G era.

Fang Hanting, vice president of Science and Technology Daily, expressed his views on the forum. He said it is very important for China and Malaysia to discuss the prospects for digital cooperation in smart media in the era of 5G. 5G represents an epic advancement in information technology and connection. It marked the development of the entire media sector, in particular the intellectual media sector. In the age of intellectual media, 5G technology will accelerate data-driven smart connection and media think tank. It will promote the establishment of an immersion focused on the sector as well as environmentally-friendly media focused on personal networks. It will provide a powerful supporting force for innovation and development of the media industry, and act as a medium to strengthen everything in many ways. China and Malaysia should seize this opportunity and jointly explore new prospects for cooperation among media think tanks.

During the discussion forum, representatives of several media and companies addressed three topics: the application of digital technology in the field of international communication, the development trends of media in the era of 5G and groups media think tank seeking to foster technological cooperation between China and Malaysia.

After discussion, it is widely accepted that digital technologies such as 5G are rebuilding the industrial structure of science and technology and that they represent the main drivers of change in the media sector. The media, think tanks and technology companies in China and Malaysia should seize cooperation opportunities, enhance cooperation and exchange, promote the building of digital information platforms and digital information cooperation. They should also strengthen the integration of the media in order to increase the influence of the media, thus giving a practical dimension to the collaboration between the two countries.
