Chinese doctors who performed an autopsy of coronavirus deaths unveil the results

Having performed an autopsy of 11 coronavirus deaths of a new type, doctors concluded that it affects not only the lungs, but also the heart. 9 autopsies were performed in Wuhan, 2 – in Shanghai. All 11 patients were 52–80 years old. According to the results, to a greater extent the virus affects the respiratory tract and alveolar sacs. The results of injuries from the new virus were compared with injuries from SARS and it was found that in SARS the most pronounced is pulmonary fibrosis – a pathology that results in connective tissue replacing pulmonary. With the new virus, edema is most pronounced.

In addition, it was found that with coronavirus, discharge from the lungs enters the chest, adversely affecting the functioning of the heart. This explains the fact that patients with cardiovascular disease are much more difficult to tolerate Chinese pneumonia. However, to verify this information, scientists need to conduct a number of studies.

Also, additional studies will be needed in order to understand what effect the new virus has on the brain, gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, and spleen. The difficulty is that the sample for research is very limited in age and size. These patients, due to their age, could have concomitant diseases that could well affect the outcome of the studies.

It is worth noting that, according to scientists, the highest risk of getting sick in those patients who have previously been diagnosed with cancer.
