The blogger recalled that the traditional ingredients of okroshka are fresh radish and cucumber, boiled potatoes and eggs, sausage, kvass or kefir, greens and salt. He pointed out that onions can also be added to the dish, sour cream, pepper and various seasonings.

“It is worth noting that onions, dill and parsley, as well as sour cream are important ingredients of this dish. They are difficult to buy in China, but they are necessary in order to cook a real Russian okroshka,” writes Baijiahao.

“Traditionally, any kind of meat that was at home was added to the okroshka. Usually it is beef or chicken. But with the development of industrialization in the Soviet era, processed meat — sausage — gained popularity,” he said.
