This is evident from calculations by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). Due to the corona crisis, childcare remained closed for most children between March 16 and May 11. Only children of parents with essential professions were welcome.
Continue to pay the bill
In the meantime, the cabinet called on parents to continue to pay the childcare bill. The childcare allowance also continued. It was promised that parents would receive compensation for the personal contribution.
According to the CBS, parents who have paid their own contribution during the corona crisis will receive a full refund. This also applies to parents who have made use of emergency care because they have a crucial profession.

The amount of compensation that parents receive varies widely. This is because there are large differences in the personal contribution they have to pay. This depends, among other things, on the costs they incur, their income and the number of children.
Parents with one child in the care receive an average of EUR 390 compensation, those with three children or more receive EUR 800.
Compensation late
Interest club BoiNK previously informed RTL Nieuws that they were concerned about parents who are already struggling with a drop in income. Compensation may come too late for them. According to BoiNK chairman Gjalt Jellesma, there is no further solution for parents who are not entitled to childcare allowance, and who now have a high bill for which they are not compensated.

Statistics Netherlands also concludes that more and more children go to childcare.
More children to care
In 2019, 986,000 children were affected, 39,000 more than a year earlier. This is partly due to the fact that playgroups have been converted into nurseries, making it possible to receive a supplement for this. A growing number of children are also going to out-of-school care.
The childcare will open again from today.
