Childcare in crisis mode – Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district

Because parents are desperate, professionals are stressed, and city hall employees are frustrated, the district has set up a task force.

Nearly one in three children under the age of three in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district is cared for in a nursery or childcare provider. But things are not going smoothly everywhere: the tough search for skilled workers and unexpected closures due to lack of staff are creating problems for families and administrations. And the expansion of places is reaching its limits. For these reasons, the district has now established a task force.
