Child who was rescued from the canal in Anderlecht still died …

The boy who was rescued from the canal in the Brussels municipality of Anderlecht on Thursday afternoon, later died.

The local police confirms a message from VRT Nieuws about this. According to the initial data from the study, the boy would have jumped into the water with some friends, but he could not swim very well.

The Brussels fire brigade was informed on Thursday afternoon at around 4 pm that a boy of about ten had ended up in the canal in Anderlecht, near the Vaartdijk. Immediately the necessary fire fighting equipment, divers and medical assistance were sent to the scene.

Upon arrival, three firefighters dove into the water to start searching for the drowning person. When the divers arrived, they too immediately entered the water. A diver found the young drowning man shortly afterwards at the bottom of the canal.

The boy was taken out of the water and onto the dock resuscitated, after which he was taken to hospital in critical condition.
