Piet didn’t have to think twice when his good friend Peter invited him to Golfclub Oostburg in the Netherlands. Since he took a step back in his French star restaurant Likoké, he regularly enjoys the golf course. “For a long time I thought that was something for rich people and old people,” says Piet in Story. “But when I was invited to a golf club in France, I was immediately told that I had the right swing. And now I’ve been addicted for four years (laughs). A chef is the most impatient man and the biggest ego in the world, with an incredible winning mentality, but golf has taught me to master something step by step. My wife also plays every day, which is great that we can do that together.” Peter can’t live without it either. “Golf was on my to-do list for after I retired,” he laughs. “But a friend started it just before the first lockdown. And it really calms me down, away from the hectic catering life. I golf a maximum of three times a week, because I have already suffered a tear in my elbow. It is also the first time that Piet and I play golf together. Quite an honor for me!”
