Not really known for his defensive strength when he officiated at Paris Saint-Germain (2018-2020), Thomas Tuchel seems to have rectified the situation at Chelsea. The proof in figures: since his induction on January 26, the German technician has conceded only two goals in eight games following the new clean sheet made on Tuesday against Atletico Madrid (1-0) in the Champions League.
And as Opta points out, in Chelsea’s history, only one manager has managed to do better by conceding only one small goal after his first eight meetings: the inevitable José Mourinho (2004-2007 and 2013-2015) .
