Bank, Nordea | Nordea first bank to raise mortgage rates

– We have decided to raise interest rates on mortgages and savings accounts. The background for the increase is Norges Bank’s decision to increase the key interest rate, as well as developments in the fixed income market, says Randi Marjamaa, head of the retail market in Nordea Norway, in a press release

Nordea increases the interest rate on mortgages by up to 0.5 percentage points. New interest rates for existing loans will apply from 5 August 2022.

The interest rate on deposits is raised by up to 0.6 percentage points.

On Thursday, Norges Bank raised its key interest rate by 0.5 percentage points to 1.25 per cent. The reason is a sharp rise in prices recently, combined with very low unemployment.

At the same time, Norges Bank announced on Thursday that the interest rate will rise to 3 per cent by next summer.
