Los Angeles (AP) – Almost four months after the cancer death of “Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman, the actor can now be seen in his last film role.

In the Netflix film “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”, Boseman played a jazz trumpeter in Chicago in the 1920s. Viola Davis embodies the blues singer and music pioneer Gertrude «Ma» Rainey. Denzel Washington is co-producer.

Boseman died in August at the age of 43. Hollywood film critics speculate that the actor could win posthumous awards in the upcoming film awards season.

Boseman also appeared in front of the camera for US director Spike Lee. He played an important supporting role in the drama “Da 5 Bloods” about Vietnam veterans who return to the jungle to come to terms with their war experiences. On Friday, the renowned New York Film Critics Circle awarded Boseman the award for best supporting actor.
