Cesson-Sevigne. Blood donation: associations looking for solutions

On Saturday, the associations for voluntary blood donation from Ille-et-Vilaine met for their departmental general meeting.

Françoise Gobaille, assistant in charge of social action and solidarity, represented the town hall and Dominique Dubois, responsible for collections at the Maison du don, represented the French Blood Establishment of Rennes.

The delegates of forty associations of volunteer blood donors in the department were able to discuss with him, but also the representatives of the departmental union, on the main difficulty of the moment: the pandemic, which has greatly disrupted collections for two years.

For two years, the current stock has only covered one week’s consumption. Various avenues have been mentioned to remedy this, without any notable solution.

This meeting was used to celebrate the 60 years of existence of the Cessonnaise association.

For the occasion, two trophies from the French Federation for Voluntary Blood Donation (FFDSB) were awarded, on the one hand to Marie-Hélène Guiltat, president of the local association and on the other hand, to Françoise Gobaille, representing Jean-Pierre Savignac, the mayor, for the material assistance provided by the city for many years, during cessonnaise collections.
