Censorship of Friends? The production and Maria De Filippi silence the controversy that arose on social media after the performance of the dancer Mattia.

Maria De Filippi and the production of Friends issue an official statement with which they silence the controversy that arose in recent days on social media after a performance by the dancer Mattia. The latter faced a challenge on the notes of Bad luck, famous piece by Totò. Gianni Valentino, curator of the Totò Poetry Culture project, on social media, complained about the censorship of the song title.

“For the sake of ‘television cleaning’, do I cripple a song performed by hundreds of performers and which gives the title to two films?”, wrote Valentino to which the production responded with an official statement.

Faced with the controversy that arose following Mattia’s challenge, Amici’s production clarifies that there is no basis for this controversy since the piece Malafemmena has been performed several times during the various editions of Amici.

“These days a ‘absurd controversy between web and print media, on the possibility that Amici felt the need to censor Totò’s song, Malafemmena.
A song that Amici has been performed a thousand times over the years, with or without the verse containing the word malafemmena.
In the circumstance to which the controversy refers, the piece was cut to about a minute or so, as is customary for the execution of the choreographies and in fact, both to stay in the time required and to keep the melody intact. we all know, two central stanzas have come off, as well as the end of the piece.
Only ill-thinkers can believe that it has been decided to cut the word malfemmena which, however, in the meantime, is announced by introducing the choreography … “Francesca performs a choreography on the notes of Malafemmena”. So according to the critics, we cut the word but use it to introduce the passage. We would therefore be censors and idiots… ”, reads the statement.

“Nothing serious, however, an open question remains: if the curator of the Totò Poetry Culture project, Gianni Valentino (who set the stage for the controversy), can run into a sound error, how is it possible that distinguished journalists will bother to write pages on the subject without even checking what happened?
As Totò said, life is made up of real things and supposed things: if we put the real ones on one side, where do we put them? ”Concludes the statement.
