It soon became clear that the celebrity battle was dramatic, at least for Prime Minister Støre. Six minutes into the match, Støre had to take a short rest break after he pulled a hamstring. The Prime Minister was very tight-lipped when he left the field.

After the end of the match, he rushed off the field, but he gave Nettavisen a small injury update.

– Very exciting for the public with penalty kicks. I got a small horror injury so I didn’t play the whole match, but it was fun to watch from the sidelines, says Støre to Nettavisen.

The prime minister did not want to say specifically whether he was satisfied with the delivery on the field, because he had enough to think about with the stretch injury.

Støre played for the Redd Barna team, and the match ended with a nerve-wracking penalty kick. Støre had to take part in it – with a strained thigh. It also ended with the Prime Minister literally going straight to the ground after the penalty kick, but he quickly recovered.

– We won in spirit

As it was a draw towards the end of the match, the stage was set for a penalty kick. In the end it was MOT who were superior to Redd Barna in the penalty shootout, and thus ran away with the decisive victory during this year’s celebrity match at Ekebergsletta.

This was Atle Pettersen and Marte Bratberg’s return to the football field, they were active football players in their youth. But playing a match today was not as easy as expected.

Football fitness is a complete crisis. I had forgotten how tiring it is to run on the grass, Pettersen tells Nettavisen.

Bratberg and Pettersen played for Redd Barna, which ended up losing in the penalty shootout. But they are not bad losers for that reason.

– We won in spirit, but for a friendly match there were a lot of injuries. At least we were the team that endured the most, says Pettersen.

Stretch on stretch

What was supposed to be a rainy morning quickly turned into a sunny day at Ekebergsletta, and the audience witnessed a real showdown. But it was not a completely injury-free match.

As mentioned, the first half of the celebrity match did not go completely smoothly, which resulted in a number of injuries to the players. It wasn’t just Støre who got a real stretch.

Comedian Nils Ingar Aadne (39) had to give up early in the match. He had also suffered a stretch, namely he tried to give the audience a show when he was about to receive a pass – but without success.

– This is how it is to get older, says Aadne and continues:

– I don’t think I will return to the field again.

The injuries didn’t seem to end any time soon, because shortly after Aadne’s stretch, Wanda Mashadi also suffered a concussion.

It seemed somewhat more serious for Mashadi, who received medical treatment on the pitch immediately.

– My head is fine, but my legs hurt. I felt a hard lever from behind, Wanda tells Direktesport’s reporter on the spot.

Own goal

As mentioned, Holsten was a football talent in his younger days, and he got to show off his talent as a former footballer and scored the first goal of the match for MOT.

Shortly before the first half ended, the score was tied at 1-1. Sander Austad Dale, better known as Randulle, provided an own goal.

– I’m enjoying myself enormously, and I had a goal today: to score. In a way, I managed it, he jokes about the goal.

It’s no secret that Daniel Kvammen (34) has a competitive instinct like no other, which he confirmed during Wednesday’s match. However, he regrets that he was not in hard training ahead of the football match, but he does not try to lie on the lazy side.

– I felt that I provoked the own goal a bit then, says a Kvammen.
