A man in The Hague was seriously injured on Sunday evening when a piece of fireworks may have exploded in his hand. The mobile unit has been deployed to make room for the emergency services and to conduct research. The city celebrated the election victory of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

In several cities in the country, Turkish Dutch people celebrate that Erdogan has won the Turkish elections. Many revelers have boarded the car with the flag of Turkey or are waving the flag in the street.
It is busy near the Mercatorplein in Amsterdam-West. There are many cars driving around with Turkish flags out the windows and a lot of honking.
People have also taken to the streets in Rotterdam. Many Turks drive around to celebrate the result, including at the Hofplein fountain in the center broadcaster Rijnmond. In Roermond and Amersfoort, among others, according to AD Amersfoortse Courant people have also gathered.
Erdogan is popular among Dutch-Turks. During the first round of the Turkish elections, which took place earlier this month, Erdogan received 68.76 percent of the Turkish-Dutch vote. 28.52 percent voted for rival Kemal Kiliçdaroglu. The provisional result of May 28 shows that Erdogan this time accounted for more than 70 percent of the Turkish-Dutch vote, while 29.5 percent voted for Kiliçdaroglu.
Not everyone is happy with the election results. Writer and presenter Özcan Akyol shows a video of honking cars on social media and writes: “It’s nice to honk in the liberal west because you helped conservative nationalists to profit in another country.”
