Ceiling plaster drops for 8.2 million euros in Jēkabpils Secondary School No. 2 rebuilt this summer – Society and Politics – News

About one square meter of plaster fell on the school, which was completed this summer and cost 8.2 million euros. People have not suffered in what happened.

The builder – SIA “Jēkabpils PMK” – evaluates the situation and prevents damage, as well as at the same time started an inspection in all other school premises. The inspection will be completed today, after which the municipality promises to inform about the results.

Currently, the teaching process in Jēkabpils Secondary School No. 2 is not disturbed and continues as usual.

It has already been reported that the construction work on the site lasted for a year and a half, and the school has undergone visible changes – all the school buildings have been rebuilt, the facade has acquired bright colors, a landscaped area and a parking lot near the school. New internal engineering networks have been built for the school – heating system, sewerage and water supply, ventilation system with recuperation has been built.

All the school premises have also been renovated, four new mathematics classrooms have been created, and a student wardrobe has been placed in the annex next to the old building. To ensure the accessibility of the environment, ramps, a lift and an elevator have been built in both the new and the old building.

The construction works at the site were performed by the general contractor “Jēkabpils PMK”, construction supervision was provided by SIA “Firma L4”, but author supervision by SIA “Acitektura”.

The total costs of the reconstruction of Jēkabpils Secondary School No. 2, which includes the costs of construction project development, author supervision, construction supervision and construction works, are 8,270,289 euros.

The reconstruction of the school took place when the local government implemented the project “Improvement of the learning environment and infrastructure of Jēkabpils general education institutions”. The total cost of the project is 24,470,096 euros, of which 6,000,000 euros is funding from the European Regional Development Fund.

The project will end in December 2021, and the Jēkabpils State Gymnasium building will also be rebuilt. The result of the project will be two fully modernized general education institutions.
