CECUT presents its XXVII Free Theater Meeting with 5 invited states

The Tijuana Cultural Center (CECUT) welcomed the XXVII Tijuana Theater Meeting on the afternoon of Thursday, October 6, where the actor César Enríquez, who is part of the curatorial committee and currently performs “Lamore” in the play “Siete Veces Goodbye”, he gave a few words to start this artistic event.

It was around 7:00pm that the Tijuana theater community was present at the cultural venue to listen to the artistic offering that CECUT now brings, where the importance of not only waiting for popular works from Mexico City to come to the theater was stressed. the border city but to feed this taste for theater, with local performances from different states, in this way you will be able to know what is being done in different parts of the country.

In this way, it was presented which performances from Mexico City, Veracruz, Nuevo León, Guanajuato and Baja California, will be presented in the CECUT performance hall at 7 in the afternoon, as well as workshops, talks and dramatized readings. by companies from the aforementioned municipalities, from October 5 to 13.

In the words of César Enríquez regarding the invited theater companies, he noted:

We think it is important to address topics such as what you will see today with the play directed by Conchi León “Las mujeres de Emiliano” about masculinities and machismo. We were also interested in bringing “June in 93”, a successful and inclusive project that talks about HIV. This work features Mel Fuentes, a trans actress from Mexico City, where we seek to integrate people into projects that are really important.

At the end of Enríquez’s intervention, the play “Emiliano’s Women” began, where the seriousness and comedy of fictional women in the life of Emiliano Zapata were addressed in a dual way, who throughout the performance make known their voice in a heartbreaking way with a somewhat feminist tone, seeking to recognize how this topic sounds so current because no revolution has managed to do justice to women.

Saturday, October 7 “Nothing sells better than a survival story” from Baja California: It shows a child reporter who hosts a documentary program about survivors who do not dare to testify because of the pain and fear that the recreation of the terrible events produces in them; Immersing himself in his memories through representations that soften the facts, the reporter discovers the catastrophes that caused the destruction of his homes.

Sunday, October 8 “El Bodegón de las Onions” from Veracruz: This setting shows how a group of people sit around a table to talk while chopping onions, which gives them the ideal “pretext” to cry, in this way they reveal memories and events that have caused their tears.

Monday, October 9 “Sometimes dogs smile” from Baja California: In the middle of the 19th century, Lola lives in a world where death has become an ordinary topic; while Sylvie, a thousand years later, seems to have everything figured out in a perfectly controlled society. Both will experience a danger that will force them to recognize their own drive for life with a common bond: they have a dog named Filomena with whom they develop a strong emotional bond.

Tuesday, October 10 “The dance, Archeology of a stroke” from Nuevo León: It seeks to translate to the stage the lines and memory of those who travel, write and read the city of Monterrey and its metropolitan area.

Wednesday, October 11 “Conference on (in fact it has no title) stain, cha, cha and OTHER THINGS” from Mexico City: Conference on nonsense. We renounce the possibility of telling truths, so we embrace lies, silence, perverted logic and dislocated moralities.

Thursday, October 12 “June in 93” from Mexico City: It’s 1993. June was diagnosed with HIV. He is in Xalapa in the editing process and living in a theater commune. Some medications you take, others you don’t.
