‘Cat with rope and anchor dumped in water around waist’ | Inland

“I feel so sorry and sad”, Ed van Staveren begins his post on social media. His cat appears to have been killed in a gruesome way. He was informed about this by means of a ‘terrible phone call’. The creature was drowned by a heavy anchor attached to a rope. “Just like that, a cat that was goodness itself and wouldn’t hurt anyone.”

Van Staveren therefore speaks of “a very cowardly act”, reports Hart van Nederland. He had had the cat for six years. “It was really my buddy.”

‘100 percent intent’

Passers-by saw Nano lying in the water at the Huigsloterdijk in Weteringbrug. The animal ambulance was then called in. The quadruped had probably been in the water for a few days. “He died in a terrible way. It is 100 percent done on purpose, ”says the inconsolable owner. He suspects that the perpetrator or perpetrators brought Nano to the scene of the accident themselves. He lives a few kilometers away. “So they really took Nano to that place to drown it there.”

The police have been informed and are investigating the incident. Van Staveren says he is going to give a reward for the golden tip. The Facebook post in question has already been shared thousands of times.
