Case Baby Factory in Nigeria, Hire Men to Conceive Women, Baby Boys Sold More Expensive

TRIBUNPALU.COM – Police on Nigeria managed to dismantle the human trafficking syndicate.

Police have rescued 10 people, including four children, four pregnant women, and two other women who were involved in illegal maternity homes.

The syndicate trafficking babies, known as a ‘baby factory’ operation, was located in the Mowe area of southwest Ogun state on Tuesday (12/1/2020).

Quoted from Aljazeera, this was disclosed by police spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi to AFP.

“Acting as a guide, people on our side raided an illegal maternity home and saved 10 people, including four children and six women, four of whom are pregnant,” said Oyeyemi.

He said the women told police that the owners of the illegal maternity homes employed men to impregnate them and then sell the newborns for a profit.

Usually, this maternity home serves as a private medical clinic that accommodates pregnant women and then offers their babies for sale.

In some cases, young women were detained without their consent and they were raped by male workers.

Only then was the newborn baby sold on the black market.

Oyeyemi said two suspects, a man with disabilities and the daughter of the illegal clinic owner had been arrested.

He also explained that the suspect had previously been arrested for the same offense in early 2020.

“He was put on trial for human trafficking after his arrest earlier this year, but he got bail when he returned to operating his illegal business,” Oyeyemi said.
