Carlos Alcaraz: The Rising Star in Tennis and a Potential Successor to the Big Three

Carlos Alcaraz has captivated the tennis world. At just 20 years old, the Spaniard already has two Grand Slam successes and four Masters titles to his name.

Whether this success will avoid comparison with Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer is “almost impossible,” says Boris Becker in the Eurosport podcast Das Gelbe vom Ball.

“But please leave the church in the village and give him the time to develop. So that he doesn’t lose his interest in sport, because we still need him for a few years,” said Germany’s tennis legend.

It is “illusory to think that Carlos could make it beyond 20 Grand Slam titles.” That didn’t happen before the era of the Big 3, “and I am convinced that three players will never again win over 20 Grand Slam competitions at the same time.”

Whatever Alcaraz’s results turn out at some point, the world number two is a “fascinating player” and “incredible crowd puller”.

The spectators, Becker emphasized, “come to the halls or the large stadiums to watch Carlos play tennis. He is so important for the tennis scene, a great ambassador.” And last but not least: “A great successor to the big three!”

Becker warns Zverev: “It can’t go well in the long run”
