Caritas Diocesana de Cádiz Launches Pre-Employment Workshop in Campo de Gibraltar to Improve Employability and Facilitate Labor Market Entry

Cáritas Diocesana de Cádiz has recently launched a pre-employment workshop aimed at improving the employability and job prospects of ten individuals from Campo de Gibraltar, specifically from Algeciras and La Línea. The workshop is being conducted at the Padre Cruceyra Social Center in Algeciras, which has recently resumed its face-to-face activities in the Soup Kitchen and other volunteering and training initiatives.

The ten participants in this workshop have previously received support and guidance from Cáritas’ Employment Guidance Services throughout the Campo de Gibraltar region. These individuals have been referred to the workshop by the Caritas teams in their respective parishes, allowing them to progress in their personalized integration plans, where training plays a crucial role.

The pre-employment workshop spans a total of 114 hours and covers various training modules. The main focus of the training is on Customer Service, enabling participants to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for employment in the service sector. The training includes topics such as social skills, communication, occupational risk prevention, digital literacy, employment guidance, equal opportunities, labor law, environmental awareness, and understanding of the European funds that support this training initiative.

In addition to the core training provided by teachers from the Cáritas Training School, the participants will also benefit from specific training sessions offered by external entities, including private companies and public administrations. These sessions will provide valuable insights and experiences on how to navigate the current job market.

The participants in this workshop are unemployed individuals with limited training or work experience, facing significant economic difficulties, lacking a social support network, and encountering challenges in accessing regulated training resources.

The successful implementation of this training initiative is made possible through the support of six volunteers, three contracted individuals, and the co-financing provided by the Operative Program for Social Inclusion and Social Economy (POISES) and Cáritas Diocesana de Cádiz.

This pre-employment workshop represents a significant step towards improving the employability and future prospects of these ten individuals from Campo de Gibraltar. By equipping them with essential skills and knowledge, Cáritas is empowering them to overcome their challenges and successfully integrate into the labor market.
