Carinthian Episcopal Ordination is celebrated in German and Slovenian

The new Carinthian bishop was born on July 30, 1955 in St. Philippen ob Sonnegg / St. Lips was born in the bilingual region of Southeast Carinthia. He comes from the Slovenian ethnic group.

Marketz graduated from high school in Tanzenberg in 1975 and was ordained a priest in Klagenfurt in 1982. After his time as chaplain, he was appointed head of the Slovenian section in the Episcopal Pastoral Office of the Gurk Diocese in 1992. In 1994 he also became pastor of Radsberg / Radise.

In 2014 he moved to the top of Caritas in Carinthia. At the same time he was appointed bishop vicar for Caritas and for social services.
