Two occupants of a car on the A37 near New Amsterdam had the fright of their lives this morning.
While the pair were driving on the highway, a fire broke out in the car. The driver managed to stop the car on the hard shoulder of an exit, after which the duo were able to leave the car unharmed. Firefighters from Emmen extinguished the fire. The fire closed an exit for some time, causing a traffic jam. This has now been resolved.
It is not known how the fire could have started.
