A big fire is burning in the center of Pernik. The fire broke out in the municipal market.
“The damage is great, but there are no victims, the important thing is that the fire has been controlled and there are no injured people,” the mayor of the city Stanislav Vladimirov told NOVA.
He informed that a large part of the market had burned down, the damage was huge and an investigation into the causes of the fire was just beginning.
Buildings close to the market were not damaged by the flames. The mayor declined to speculate on the reasons and called for waiting for the authorities to do their job.
Firefighters remain on site to avoid the risk of re-igniting the fire.
