Candriam goes one step further in the management of illiquid assets. The European management company and its American sister New York Life Investment (NYLIA) announced on Wednesday that they had acquired a stake in Kartesia Management. Founded in 2013, this London corporate debt management boutique has, among its four founders, three French people who have worked through ICG and LBO France.

“We acquired 33% of the capital to provide private debt solutions to our European clients, looking for yield in a world of sustainable low interest rates. Kartesia has an excellent performance history in this asset class ”, declares Naïm Abou-Jaoudé, Managing Director of Candriam, which manages 135 billion euros of assets in Luxembourg, Brussels, Paris and London. This is the second foray into the unlisted assets of the former Dexia Asset Management, acquired in 2014 by the American insurer New York Life. In 2018, Candriam bought 40% of Tristan Capital Partners, a London property manager.
