Camer.be learned with regret of the death that occurred this evening of Saturday, January 6, 2024, of Prof. Joseph OWONA, following illness.
Family sources report that the emeritus professor of law and honorary dean died at the Bordeaux medical-surgical center in France.
Member of the Constitutional Council of Cameroonit is reported that the state of health of Joseph IS HEALTHY had no longer been enviable for several months, everything which required its evacuation to mainland France, for a more appropriate technical platform.
Unfortunately. This could not save the man who almost died at the age of 79 (born January 25, 1945) “The great man is gone. Our beloved father and respected patriarch, Professor Joseph OWONA left us this January 6, 2024. Peace to his soul”wrote Mathias Éric OWONA NGUINI, son of the illustrious deceased, himself a professor of Political Science at the State University of Yaoundé II – SOA, and no less vice-rector at the University of Yaoundé I.
Joseph OWONA was with Laurent ESSO, one of the greatest barons of the BIYA regime, even if he has not been part of the government since 2004.
The common point between the two men was that they had occupied several ministerial positions and other strategic positions including the Ministry of Public Health and the general secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic which they occupied jointly.
