Called the penalty not enforceable, Ronaldo can make his Al Nassr debut today

Al Nassr fans are hoping Ronaldo can play when their favorite team takes on Al Tai in the Saudi Pro League on Thursday (5/1).

It was reported in the British media that Ronaldo could not play for Al Nassr because he was suspended for two matches issued by the FA.

The FA penalty was in the aftermath of the incident in which Ronaldo smashed fans’ mobile phones in April 2022.

The penalty was only announced on November 23, or the day after Ronaldo and MU officially parted ways. The long lapse of time between the accident and the announcement of the sentence is due to the long investigative process.

Although he no longer plays in the Premier League and is now part of Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, Ronaldo has yet to go through this suspension.

This is in accordance with article 12.1 of the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfers of Players.

“Any disciplinary penalty up to four matches or up to three months that has been imposed on a player by a federation before but not yet [sepenuhnya] carried out at the time of the transfer will be applied by the new association with which the player was registered so that the sanction can be applied at national level”.
