“We want art again”, calls the press release from OpenArts Dortmund. After the pandemic-related break, the art exhibition on the culture island at Phoenix Lake starts a new attempt:

The 8th OpenArts Phoenix See will be for the July 11, 2021 announced and has been fully booked including waiting lists since the beginning of January. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Open Arts Phoenixsee artists’ market, which has meanwhile received nationwide and international attention, will take place for the eighth time.

“We see 2021 and our date as a new beginning; as a positive sign for us organizers and artists, but also as a ray of hope for all citizens after this time of deprivation and insecurity. After our initial publication on Facebook in early 2021, we noticed how much people long for and look forward to events. It will of course be a day of reunion. We would like to share this joy with everyone ”, said organizer Claudia Hiddemann-Holthoff.

As in previous years, artists from Hörde will take part, e. For example, the Hörder artist Igor Jablunowskij with his photo-realistic oil painting, as well as the Dortmund artist Wulfhild Tank, a paper cutter and author. Other Hörder artists such as the painter Iris Völzmann-Handke and Michael Wienand with his Ruhr area pictures will also exhibit their art, as will Claudia Quick with her abstract paintings and Sonja Neumann from Eichlinghofen.

On board the island there will also be numerous artists from all over Germany who wanted to take the opportunity to exhibit their art at the Phoenix See in Dortmund-Hörde, such as Birgit Horn from Lüneburg with her upcycling art, also known through the RTL series “Schätze aus Schrott”, Anne Ruffert from Cologne with acrylic painting, Margarita Winkelmann with photo-realistic painting from Barßel ​​on the North Sea coast, the Münster painter Wolfgang Riedemann and the Düsseldorf photographer Gaby Schmidt, to name just a few. In addition, international participants have announced that they will participate again. B. the Belgian art award winner Inge Lensing with her happy fat women on the canvas and Alice Niederkorn from Luxembourg with her acrylic painting.

“We would like to thank the artists for the trust that artists have placed in us,” explains Hiddemann-Holthoff. “With the planning at the beginning of 2021, almost everyone who registered in 2020 will be there again. We received a lot of understanding and support. Basically, we have all grown closer to one another with our goals. This feeling of solidarity is a fantastic opportunity and a good sign for 2021 ”.

A non-profit association will also have the opportunity to advertise itself again in 2021. The Streunerhilfe International e. V., which has been helping stray dogs and cats in Germany and internationally since 2014, will present its activities at a stand.
