The Aalst resident who worked as a bus driver had returned from Macedonia, a red zone, and had completed the mandatory form. Instead of going into compulsory quarantine, the man immediately went to work.

“We do not know what motivated the man to immediately go to work, but when the police were informed, the Care and Health agency was contacted,” said Mayor Baeyens. “He was removed, detained and immediately quarantined.”

According to Baeyens, this is a very quick and adequate response from the police. She does not know why the man was not quarantined despite the regulations. ‘Well that the man has been tested. Tomorrow (Friday) we will know the results. Depending on this, we will take measures at the company. ‘

The company has since been informed and made aware. The man risks a fine for not complying with the corona measures.
