Builder Heijmans increased profit in 2021 | Financial

More profit was also made on other construction projects and infrastructure projects. Heijmans’ turnover last year amounted to €1.748 billion. That was €2 million more than in 2020. Net profit in the same period increased by 25% to €50 million.

Heijmans has had a good year, but the costs for raw materials and personnel are rising. In the long term, the nitrogen problem poses a major threat to Heijmans’ order book, because this could lead to construction being closed again in the Netherlands. There is no prospect of a solution, and recent court rulings make it seem even more difficult. That will not affect the contractor this year, but probably in the future.

Heijmans can still move forward in terms of assignments. The order book still contains more than €2 billion in projects. For this year, CEO Ton Hillen is counting on a slightly increasing turnover and a stable operating result. Much will depend on government policy in the coming years. If the government can solve the nitrogen problem, there will be more major infrastructure projects. Heijmans is also dependent on the designation of new construction sites for the construction of homes.
