Budvar’s exports rose at a record rate – Novinky.cz

Last year, Budvar cooked a record 1.8 million hectoliters, up 4.6 percent year on year. Revenues from beer exceeded three billion crowns for the first time, amounting to 3.17 billion. The national company has not yet published other results. In exports, Budvar recorded record double-digit year-on-year growth last year.

“In export markets, we achieved 11% year-on-year growth and 16% sales growth year-on-year. We are glad that we were successful both in Europe and far beyond its borders, “said Renata Pánková, Budvar’s director of export markets.

The brewery was also successful in all key markets. These include the countries where Budvar has subsidiaries – Germany, Great Britain and Slovakia. “We are pleased to be able to grow in all markets where sales, distribution and marketing are provided by our own subsidiaries. I cannot fail to mention Budvar’s record sales result in the stagnant market in Germany, where for the first time in history we exceeded the limit of five hundred thousand hectoliters, “added Pánková.

Budvar drinks in 70 countries

Budvar exports to more than 70 countries. Last year, he also sold in Algeria, Cameroon, Ecuador, Chile, Iraq, Jordan, the Maldives, Peru and the Philippines. The national brewery has recently exported to Cambodia and Uzbekistan, for example. Australia has long been the most remote market.

For the second year in a row, Budvar had to deal with covid’s restrictions. The decline in sales of draft and tank beer due to the closure of restaurants was offset by the development of the distribution network and the sale of more bottled beer. “The coronavirus crisis has also significantly affected the functioning of logistics,” said Bláhová.

In 2020, when a national company with 670 employees brewed 1.73 million hectoliters of beer, exports to the exhibition accounted for 69 percent. Exports help Budvar achieve better results in the long run. The five largest markets last year were Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Russia and Britain.

Revenues from the sale of products and services were 2.81 billion crowns the year before, they were record-breaking. For the second year in a row, net turnover exceeded three billion crowns. Budvar had a profit after tax of 305 million crowns the year before, according to the annual report.
