Some have the name and some have the grace. The reason for the Belgian farmers or rather the European farmers who demonstrated yesterday in the “centre of Europe” in Brussels.
Unions from Wallonia and Flanders (southern and northern Belgium) participated, as well as farmers from France, Italy, Spain, Germany and Luxembourg.
The protesters entered with their agricultural machinery and “equipment” in the morning and met in Schuman Square, outside the EU Council headquarters, where the Agriculture Ministers were meeting.
Among their main demands are: fair incomes, a reduction in administrative burdens, an end to free trade agreements and an increase in the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) budget.
The photo tribute comes from the Associated Press and shows the “ingenuity” of the farmers since there was no shortage of eggs, straw, manure, rockets and tires that burn easily…
