Britney Spears finally free. Conservatives called the singer Toxic it as a nightmare was officially discontinued on Friday (12/11).
A Los Angeles court approved proceedings to end the controversial guardianship that has controlled pop star Britney Spears’ life for the past 13 years.
“Effective today, the conservatory of trust and property of Britney Spears is hereby terminated. And it is a court order,” Judge Brenda Penny said.
Penny added that the current conservator will continue to work to resolve the ongoing financial issues in the case.
Britney Spears has requested the removal of Jamie Spears from the conservatory or trust, which has governed her personal life and a $60 million estate since 2008.
Although Britney was not present at the hearing, fans outside the court cheered the decision to stop the conservatory and began singing the idol’s hit song, “Stronger.”
The conservatory was set up and overseen by the singer’s father, Jamie, after Britney suffered a public breakdown and was undergoing treatment for undisclosed mental health issues.
Since revealing years of personal suffering in tearful testimony last June, Spears has received a wave of public support and hired a new attorney who is moving aggressively to end her wits.
At the time, Britney told the court she was traumatized and wanted her life back as soon as possible.
None of those involved in the conservatory challenged a court request to stop it on Friday.
The spotlight on the case was fueled by last year’s documentary and the #FreeBritney fan movement questioning why the singer was living under restrictions, while successfully touring the world and earning millions of dollars.
