British Royals thanked health workers

Queen Elizabeth II of the UK and her family thanked healthcare workers for their efforts in the coronavirus crisis on International Care Day. Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Prince William and Duchess Kate took part in the campaign.

They spoke by video call not only to nurses in the UK, but also in India, Australia, Sierra Leone and the Bahamas. “You can be proud of the work you do,” Duchess Kate said in a compilation of posts that has been disseminated on social networks today.

The Queen preferred to pick up the phone and speak to Kathleen McCourt, president of the Commonwealth Countries Association of Nurses and Midwives. “This is a very important day,” said the monarch, who retired to Windsor Castle weeks ago with husband Prince Philip because of the pandemic.
