JAKARTA, celebrities.id – Illness hepatitis mysterious acute disease in children in the world, continue to find out what causes it. Research from the UK made a breakthrough finding a serious liver condition with the coinfection of two common viruses, but not corona virus.
The research involved two new studies conducted independently and simultaneously in Scotland and London. The scientists found a virus called AAV2 (a adeno 2-associated virus), playing an important role in 96 percent of all patients examined.
Furthermore, both teams concluded that they were coinfected with AAV2 virus and adenovirus or herpes virus HHV6. Could provide the best explanation for this severe liver disease.
The AAV2 virus is usually not known to cause disease and cannot replicate itself in the absence of other “helper” viruses.
“The presence of the AAV2 virus is associated with unexplained hepatitis in children,” said professor of infectious diseases Emma Thomson of the University of Glasgow who led the Scottish paper.
However, he cautioned that it is uncertain whether the AAV2 virus causes disease (Acute hepatitis mysterious). Or is a biomarker for adenovirus infection, difficult to detect but a major pathogen.
