LONDON – The Minister of Foreign Affairs English James Cleverly, criticized the “dirty deal” between Iran And Russia . He also said the two countries threaten global security.

Cleverly’s comments come after the US released information on Friday (9/12/2022) indicating that Iran has become a major military backer of the Kremlin.

The information highlighted the extent of Iran’s military support for Russia in its offensive into Ukraine, which included the supply of hundreds of drones used to kill Ukrainian civilians.

“Iran is now a major military supporter of Russia; Their dirty deal saw the Iranian regime send hundreds of drones to Moscow, which have been used to attack critical Ukrainian infrastructure and kill civilians,” Cleverly said, as quoted by Arab News.

“In return, Russia offers military and technical support to the Iranian regime, which will increase the risks for our partners in the Middle East and for international security. The UK will continue to denounce this desperate alliance and hold both countries to account,” she added.

Cleverly also said that the UK government agrees with US assessments that Iran’s support for the Russian military will grow in the coming months, including with the supply of hundreds of ballistic missiles.

“The UK is concerned that Russia intends to provide Iran with a more sophisticated military component, enabling the regime to strengthen its weapons capabilities, further increasing regional and international security risks,” he said.

“On 19 October, the United Kingdom, together with the United States and France, raised the issue before the United Nations Security Council and supported Ukraine’s request for a United Nations investigation into the Iranian transfer, in violation of the Security Council Resolution 2231. We will continue to hold both countries accountable for their egregious activities,” he added.

Britain’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office summoned Iran’s top diplomat on Thursday after the Tehran regime carried out the first execution of a protester, Mohsen Shekari, since demonstrations began in September.

“The Iranian regime’s execution of Mohsen Shekari is abhorrent,” Cleverly said. “He is a tragic victim of a justice system rife with disproportionate sentences, politically motivated trials and coerced confessions,” she continued.
