Brighton & Hove Albion Defeats Manchester United 1-0 to Secure Sixth Place in Premier League

[OSEN=고성환 기자] Brighton & Hove Albion jumped to sixth place after winning three consecutive league games against Manchester United.

Brighton defeated Man United 1-0 in the 28th round of the Premier League in the 2022-2023 season held at the American Express Community Stadium in Brighton, England at 4 am (Korean time) on the 5th.

With this, Brighton made 55 points (16 wins, 7 draws, 9 losses) and took 6th place, beating Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa (54 points), who played two more matches. Tottenham were pushed to 7th place. Manchester United remained in 4th place with 63 points (19 wins, 6 draws and 8 losses).

The home side Brighton chose a 4-2-3-1 formation. Danny Welbeck, Kaoru Mitoma, Julio Enciso, Facundo Buonanote, Alexis Mac Allister, Billy Gilmore, Pervis Estupinyan, Lewis Dunk, Adam Webster, Moises Caicedo, and Jason Steele took to the field first.

Manchester United also faced with a 4-2-3-1 formation. Anthony Marshall, Marcus Rashford-Bruno Fernandez-Anthony, Casemiro-Fred, Diogo Dalot,-Luke Shaw-Victor Lindelof-Aaron Wanbinsaka, David de Gea started.

Brighton missed a golden opportunity. In the 3rd minute of the first half, Mitoma cut off a pass from a high position and had a one-on-one chance with the goalkeeper. He chose to shoot directly rather than pass to a teammate in a good position, but it was blocked by De Gea’s face.

Mitoma threatens Manchester United’s goal once again. In the 13th minute of the first half, he took off three defenders with a dribble from the left side of the box, then shot at the goal on the other side. However, the ball went off the right side of the goal.

Man United missed a crucial opportunity. In the 39th minute of the first half, Marshall created a one-on-one opportunity by exchanging good one-two passes with Fred and digging into the box. However, his left-footed shot went right in front of the goalkeeper and was blocked.
