Although the pandemic has left us Madrilenians practically without summer festivals, there are brave people who dare to promote new initiatives that will help break the curse of returning to routine in September. From the 24th to the 26th, Chapineria will host the Bright Festival, a musical meeting for the whole family that will be a great plan, since there will be many leisure options around it.
It will be a daytime festival, careful and comfortable, with the best national and international musical offerings: The planets, Sen Senra, Ed Maverick, Panda Bear, Maria Arnal i Marcel Bagés, Women, Aiko the group, Derby Motoreta’s Burrito Kachimba, Oklou, Depresión Sonora, Simona, El Último Vecino, Alondra Bentley, Soleá Morente and Ikram Boulum are some of the names that make up a luxury poster.
«It will be from eleven in the morning to eleven at night. We wanted to maintain the philosophy of our Madrid Brilliant and Saturdays and Brilliant Sundays cycles ”, says its co-director Nacho Ruiz, referring to the musical cycles that animated the post-confinement months in the capital. “We also want to offer a different experience, which allows you to easily go back to sleep at home or stay in the area. Also, this schedule is much easier for young children. ‘
While the parents enjoy the festival, the boys and girls will be able to enjoy special concerts and activities at the El Palomar School Farm, where they will have exclusive concerts, activities with animals and workshops aimed at girls and boys between 6 and 14 years old, horse or donkey rides, crafts, visits to the Visigoth town and many more proposals.
To get to this magnificent Madrid enclave there will be shuttles available to attendees, as well as public transport services and also a car park for private vehicles. In addition, presenting the subscription in some restaurants in the area will obtain succulent discounts. “As for accommodation, in addition to having agreements with campsites in the Sierra Oeste, we have enabled the mailbox [email protected] to personally help anyone who needs accommodation in the area,” explains Ruiz.
The participation of local businesses is “a priority,” says Ruiz. “Both in the restaurant area and in the market we have reserved space for local creators and companies. But not only that: on the festival website we will have a lot of gastronomic and leisure proposals with special prices for those who have the season ticket ».
The festival has developed a guide with activities for the whole family that catch near the area. One of them Wakea Experience, in San Martín de Valdeiglesias, whose state-of-the-art facilities make it an irresistible option for lovers of water sports, and which also has a restaurant, chill out area, games area and an artificial beach. In the same town is the Enchanted Forest, a unique botanical garden in Europe with more than three hundred plant sculptures, and Las Moradas de San Martín, where you can do wine tastings.
The ideal plan to warm up your engines for the Los Planetas concert is to visit the Lunar Museum in Fresnedillas de la Oliva, where the mythical phrase of Neil Armstrong was heard for the first time when Apollo 11 landed. You can also visit the Church of the Asunción de Nuestra Señora in Robledo de la Chavela, where in 2010 some curious medieval paintings dating from around 1500 were discovered, or hiking on the Senda de las Lagunillas, whose route starts from the El Águila Environmental Education Center in the same Chapineria.
Those who are concerned about contagions can rest assured, because “at all times we are going to abide by the sanitary measures that are in force to guarantee that the public is safe and can enjoy the concerts with complete tranquility”, says Nacho Ruiz. “That legislation marks the distance between people and the use of a mask right now. We trust in any case that on September 24 the vaccination has advanced and we can have a foot festival. The capacity will be reduced for this first edition, we want you to be able to enjoy live music without crowds “.
According to Ruiz, working with the Chapineria City Council has been “very easy”, since “they were delighted to be able to set up something like this, so it has been simple and we are all pushing in the same direction.” The festival is sponsored by Vibra Mahou, an “essential” support, according to the co-director of the event. “With the current capacity and the whole range of necessary sanitary measures, it is almost impossible for an event like this not to be deficient, for which we are very grateful to Vibra Mahou and the rest of the sponsors and collaborators.” Ruiz also confirms that the Brilliant Festival was born with a vocation for continuity: “Without a doubt we want it to continue to be held in the years to come, this is a long-term project.”
