Breast cancer: chemotherapy chairs donated to Hospital Santa Rosa de Piura | News

To improve care in the oncology area, the Hospital Santa Rosa de Piura today received the donation of six reclining chemotherapy chairs with IV poles, so that more women with breast cancer receive the proper treatment.

This delivery will allow those diagnosed with this disease to feel comfortable during the long and exhausting hours of chemotherapy.

The breast cancer It is the first most common neoplasm among women in Peru, with more than 6,000 diagnoses per year, according to figures from the Ministry of Health. (Sometimes). The state entity reports that 90% of cases detected in time are cured, but in our country 85% of people are diagnosed in an advanced stage.

The oncology area of Friendship Hospital Peru Korea Santa Rosa registers 100 cases of cancer so far this year, with breast cancer occupying the first position with 33 people diagnosed.

Training

Likewise, the oncology team of the Santa Rosa Hospital (doctors, nurses and chemists) received a talk from training and training in the auditorium of the Victor Raul Health Center, in order to respond efficiently to the cases of breast cancer that are registered in the region.

In order to promote the culture of prevention, the medical oncologist at the Hospital Santa Rosa Luis Sánchez said that 40-year-old women should undergo mammography and, in genetic cases, at 35 years of age. The procedure also applies equally to ovarian and colon cancer.

“In general, no one performs a breast exam, nor does the mass in the area be palpated, much less pay attention to the pain. Most patients in the peripheral part of the health center do not assume that there is something wrong with them. Some think they are benign lesions and doctors do not refer them in a timely manner. So, the patient thinks that anti-inflammatories are enough, but they are wrong”, she emphasized.

Due to the pandemic covid-19the officials of the Santa Rosa Hospital decided to temporarily transfer the oncology area to the Víctor Raúl Health Center so that patients receive their treatment in optimal conditions.

This donation, as well as the education and training, seek to educate women in the culture of breast cancer prevention and banish myths or misconceptions about this disease that affects thousands of women in the world.
