As of: September 22, 2023 6:33 p.m

According to IG Metall Emden, there has been a breakthrough in the tariff dispute at wind energy giant Ørsted. The Danish company is open to a new, transparent pay system.

“We had a very good and productive exchange with IG Metall on Friday,” said Jörg Kubitza, Ørsted managing director in Germany, to NDR Lower Saxony. “We are now well on the way to finding a solution that is acceptable to all parties.” IG Metall had complained that the same work had not been paid equally and was also calling for better prospects for older employees.

On Tuesday, 150 employees went on warning strike – 80 in Emden and 70 at sea. It was already the twelfth day of negotiations in the ongoing collective bargaining dispute. An indefinite strike could thus be averted. In the next round of negotiations at the beginning of October, specific negotiations will take place about the new remuneration system.
