BursaErkan Kuşoğlu, who was detained for allegedly killing Sezai Katmer (45), whose body was found in the septic tank in the olive garden in Orhangazi district of Turkey, said in his statement, “I was resentful for saying that I ate his money. I tied his hands and feet and threw him into the cesspit.”
The incident occurred in Orhangazi district Yeniköy District. Sezai Katmer, who was arrested in 2019 for ‘possession of a gun’ and ‘involved in a fight’ and was released in March, disappeared after a while. Upon the application of their relatives, police teams started a search. Sezai Katmer could not be reached despite all efforts by the teams who applied to the testimony of the family.

BODY FOUND IN PHOSEPTIC
The teams examined the olive grove on the Yeniköy road belonging to Sezai Katmer on 12 August. The dead body was detected in the area under the vineyard house in the olive grove, which was used as a water well for watering the garden and then converted into phosptics. In the study conducted under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor, firefighters could not reach the dead body. Thereupon, AFAD teams were dispatched to the region. After about 2 hours of work with construction equipment, the lifeless body was removed. In the examination, it was determined that the dead body, whose hands and feet were tied, belonged to Sezai Katmer. Katmer’s lifeless body was sent to the Bursa Forensic Medicine Institute.
CAPTURED BY THE POLICE ATTENTION
Police teams examined the records of Katmer’s mobile phone and security cameras in the region. In the research, it was determined that Erkan Kuşoğlu was involved in the murder. After 5 days of technical and physical follow-up, Erkan Kuşoğlu was caught and detained in the Gemlik district Kumla District.
‘TIE YOUR HANDS AND FEET AND THROW THE PHOSEPTICTIM’
Kuşoğlu, who was punished for injuring his ex-wife Feriha in 2000 and killing her father-in-law Fahrettin Gümüş, was released in 2016 and was taken to the Department of Public Security for questioning. It was stated that Kuşoğlu said in his query:
“We are old friends with Sezai. I shot my ex-wife and father-in-law in 2000. I stayed in prison until 2016. After I got out of prison, Sezai supported me. Later, Sezai went to prison because he was involved in a fight in 2019. While he was in prison, he used to manage his olive grove in Yeniköy. He had given me a power of attorney not only for the olive grove, but for many of his works. But he later canceled these proxies. That’s why I was resentful of him. He kept telling me that his olive grove’s earnings had dropped and that I had sent him little money.

When he got out of prison, he took over his olive grove, but the hostility between us was not over. I went to talk in May. We started arguing over there because of the same things. I was resentful of him because everybody said I ate his money. After he killed, I tied his hands and feet and threw him in the crap. “
Adem A. and Aykut A., who were determined to be aiding and abetting Erkan Kuşoğlu, were also detained in Orhangazi district. It was stated that the suspects will be sent to the courthouse after their actions at the police station.
