The media office of the head of the “independence movement”, MP Michel Moawad, in response to Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, issued the following statement:
The head of the Amal Movement, Nabih Berri, who confiscated the presidency of the House of Representatives more than 30 years ago, told us the least that he said was not appropriate for the head of the parliamentary institution, but rather as a militia.
Nabih Berri’s statement that “our candidate is serious, and we have emphasized him repeatedly, as for their candidate, is nothing but a test tube” in it an attempt to offend the martyred President of the Republic, President René Moawad. This insult is also directed at all deputies and blocs that voted for Representative Michel Moawad in the presidential election sessions, and the offense also directly affects Zgharta Al-Zawiya and Al-Shamal, which he represents in Parliament, and whom René Moawad and Nayla Moawad have always represented well. Perhaps their “candidate” should answer himself if he is. He accepts insulting Zgharta Zawiya and the North, as his “godfather” Nabih Berri did.
And he continued: Perhaps the most truthful thing that Nicolas Nassif quoted about Berri was his attempt to say: “Do I remember that I am from Doha on the last day, following the signing of the agreement on May 21, 2008, announcing the lifting of the siege from downtown Beirut?”
He added: The Lebanese do not and will not forget, and they do not need someone to remind them of the practices we sell to the militia, nor his siege of Beirut, its people and its economy, nor his invasion on May 7, nor his siege today with his ally “Hezbollah” of the entire country to satisfy foreign projects, nor his attempt to overthrow the position of the presidency of the republic through insistence. Either to bring in a president who is affiliated with the axis of opposition and subject to it, or to disrupt and paralyze the republic and confiscate the powers of the president of the republic.
And he added: As for the head of “Amal”, he is a “professor” in corruption that transcends covenants and governments, and the largest partner in all quotas since 1992 and even since before Taif. This is what the Lebanese are crying out for, who are mocking the “51% joke”, the electricity and diesel files, and all the reconstruction of the south and its council, which reeked of its smells.
He added: He is exactly the speaker of the successive parliament, which did not hold a government accountable, did not punish a corrupt person, and caused the waste of tens of billions of dollars, stealing the life and livelihood of the Lebanese, and stuffing the administration with cronies and cronies!
And he concluded: Perhaps what warms the hearts of the Lebanese is that the current parliament showed reluctance to you personally and to what you represent in terms of performance after you turned the presidency of the council into a sectarian den protected from people’s anger by militia practices, so you remained in your position with only 65 votes… And the end of this mandate is near!
