One of the most famous Brazilian singers, Marilia Mendonca, was killed in a plane crash on her way to a concert.
Her press office said in a statement that the 26-year-old Latin Grammy winner died along with her producer, her uncle, who was also her advisor, both pilot and co-pilot.
Ms Mendonca posted a photo to her 38 million Instagram followers showing her walking to a plane with a guitar case in her hand.
The plane had taken off from Ms Mendonca’s hometown of Goiania and crashed shortly before arriving in Caratinga on Friday afternoon, where she was due to give a concert later that day.
Photos and videos show a plane wreck near a waterfall.
Ms. Mendonca performed country music, called sertanejo in Brazil, and was known for her songs that addressed feminist issues and celebrated the empowerment of women.
Fans, politicians, fellow musicians and footballers have commented on the news of his death.
“I refuse to believe, I simply refuse”, wrote on Twitter the Brazilian footballer Neymar, friend of Mendonca.
