Managed to escape the flames that devoured his home, it was he who told the carabinieri about his ordeal. For some time, he explained, there was a group of kids that didn’t give him peace. They mocked him, took him with water balloon shots, and then evaporated without ever giving him time to recognize them. On 2 August, however, the pack raised the bar. Taking advantage of the door which was left half open, the five young people entered the house while he was sleeping. They started a fire that began to devour the house, then woke him up by throwing water on him and disappeared. The man managed to escape before the entire building caught fire, while help arrived on the spot. And to the carabinieri who intervened he managed to give enough information to put them on the right track. In less than a week the perpetrators of the raid were identified and a precautionary measure was requested and obtained for them. This is not the first episode of gratuitous violence signed by very young people.
A year ago in Manduria a baby gang attacked and beat a disabled person to death, documenting everything with a video. Useless barbarism cost a 19-year-old and a 23-year-old a 10-year prison sentence, while another 23-year-old was sentenced to 8 years and 8 months.
