New coach Julian Nagelsmann won the premiere trophy with the Bavarian giant. Hansi Flick’s successor even won for the first time on the Bayern bench, which he did not succeed in in four preparatory matches or in the opening Bundesliga duel with Mönchengladbach (1: 1).

The match was preceded by a minute of silence and applause for the legendary gunner Bayern and the German national team Gerd Müller, who died on Sunday at the age of 75. The players of both teams also put on black ribbons.

The goalkeeper Manuel Neuer held the guests in the first half when he caught Marc Reus and Erling Haaland in great chances. In the 41st minute, Bayern took the lead with Lewandowski heading after center center with Serge Gnabry.

The people of Munich entered the second half better. Alphonsa Daviese’s central free kick put Thomas Müller up another goal 50 minutes into the match.

Haaland’s rapid reduction did not apply due to the offside. However, Dortmund continued to put in great pressure and in the 64th minute, the home fans were able to celebrate a goal after Reus’ show shot from the first.

In ten minutes, however, Lewandowski returned Bayern to a two-goal lead when he coldly penalized Manuel Akanji’s bad pass. Borussia could no longer dramatize the match and hesitated for the first time under new coach Marc Rose. Dortmund lost to the reigning German champions in the sixth competitive duel in a row.
