Certe finds fewer cases of venereal diseases in northern provinces during corona pandemic

Since the start of the corona pandemic in March last year, Certe has found fewer cases of the most common venereal disease chlamydia in the three northern provinces. It reports about that Newspaper of the North Tuesday evening.

If you look at the figures in 2020, ten to 25 people in the northern provinces have been tested less for a venereal disease every week since the start of the crisis than a year earlier. In the first months of 2021, the figures also deviate from the figures before the corona crisis.

In total, 2,226 northerners were diagnosed with chlamydia last year. In 2019, there were still 3,196 cases. However, it should be noted that in 2020 about a quarter less will be tested for sexually transmitted diseases than in 2019. Certe does say that it is wary of if all corona measures are released later. It is hoped that at the start of the academic year there will be a lot of attention for safe contact and safe sex.
